Don Rhodes
is the Chief Engineer at WBC Imaging. Mr. Rhodes has an
extensive background spanning over 25 years as a broadcast professional.

Broadcasting:
Excellent

Don worked
at WYCC-TV (Channel 20), in Chicago, IL - a Public Broadcasting
Station, owned by the City Colleges of Chicago as CHIEF ENGINEER.
He managed an engineering staff of three of was responsible for
all phases of the department operations ranging from cost benefit
analysis to liaison to the Mayor's Office on FCC requirements
and regulations.
Other accomplishments
were the design and installation of the station's first professional
editing and production facilities utilizing non-linear editing
and video server technology. Building and maintaining several
Windows NT non-linear editing systems. Additional accomplishments
were:
Engineered,
designed and installed station's first Windows NT based computer
network. Developed and implemented software for the station's
scheduling. Designed
database for station membership mailing.
Engineered installation of two 10-meter earth stations. Designed
several modifications for Harris BT 55U transmitter which were
later adopted by Harris. Re-engineered
transmitter installation increasing on-air reliability from 52%
to 99.7%.
Visual klystron achieved 93,000 hours.
Rhodes also
worked at the AMPEX CORPORATION, audio/video systems division
(no longer in business) At the time they were the leader in broadcast
technology, analog and digital systems. This is the same company
that invented video tape recording. Don was employed as SENIOR
FIELD ENGINEER and was responsible for all training, installation,
and repair of equipment in customer's location. Installing editing
system interfaces from various manufacturers and field product
evaluation and testing.

MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Senior staff engineer, Los Angeles Olympics, 1984 Member of development
thru delivery team for the BCC-20, the first computer controlled
broadcast camera. Awarded several patents. Instrumental in re-engineering
the HPE-1, the first dedicated editing switcher. Participated
in the 1984 Engineering Support Group of the International Broadcasting
Corporation. Assisted in the design of Outside Broadcast Vans
for foreign broadcasters. Installed the first ADO system. Panasonic
